LCR Update 3-18-2020
As you know by now all onsite activities at LCR have been suspended until further notice. However, it is our desire to continue connecting with you through a variety of other ways. We will continue our Lenten devotions each week (they will be posted to our YouTube page, Facebook page, Instagram page, and Website each week.) Along with these devotional videos we will still have our Lenten conversation sheets, click here, that we are encouraging you to still use for your continued time in Scripture and Conversation. We encourage all of you (if possible) to connect via phone or FaceTime to continue these conversations. We realize that may not be a reality for everyone.
The YouTube link for this week’s Lenten Devotion can be found here:

Above all else our hope is that you would stay safe and know that we are hear to support you and your family in any safe way we can. Please share with us any prayer concerns or practical needs. Please continue to engage with us on social media and do not be afraid to reach out. Also, please continue to check in with one anther. Even if it’s just to say, “Hi and how are you doing?”!
God bless you and your families now and always.
Love and Peace,
Pastor Karen and Intern John

Sunday School 3-19-2020
Hello LCR families!
Reminder: The Family page for this weekends assigned readings can be found here. As always we encourage you to use this in discussion with your family.
I hope that you and your family have begun practicing FAITH5 each day. This is a practice my family and I love to do together!
As a reminder the five steps are:
STEP 1: SHARE your highs and lows
STEP 2: READ a Bible verse or story
STEP 3: TALK about how the Bible reading might relate to your highs and lows
STEP 4: PRAY for one another’s highs and lows
STEP 5: BLESS one another
Further at home resources for all ages can be found below. The Gospel text for this weekend is John 9:1-41.
Here are some coloring/activity sheets:
Also, my family and I like the following sites for games, craft ides, and learning:
Also, here is a great site that provides Bible based videos that we occasionally use in Sunday School and at our neighborhood camp!
This Saturday I will provide a video of me teaching our children some new songs as well as a video for our Bible reading for this Sunday! I will be trying to reach out to you each day we are apart!
Finally, please feel free to text me/e-mail me how you are doing or share crafts/projects that you are working on as a family. I’d love to share them with our Church community!
If you have any further questions about Sunday School, please feel free to e-mail Intern John at internjohn@lcrracine.org or via phone at 262-748-5055.
All other questions can be sent to the Church office at office@lcraracine.org
You are all in our prayers!

From the Pastor, January 2020
Many blessings in this New Year and into this season of Epiphany. This is a great time to open our eyes, hearts and lives to see the epiphany moments and rejoice with great joy! It is also a period to remind ourselves the gift of what Epiphany is all about: Epiphany – the manifestation/appearance of Christ to the Gentiles and a moment of sudden revelation or insight.
The wise one’s were the first people to worship Jesus as Lord. But because it took time to travel back in Jesus’ day – no GPS systems, no cars, plus – the journey was maybe 500 miles or more, it was amazing that the wise one’s kept committed to searching after the Christ child, and following the prophecies from the Hebrew Scriptures. Now, when the magi saw Jesus, they worshiped Him and they brought precious gifts with them for the child, who they recognized as a king appointed not by people or family name, but by God. They had an epiphany, or a sudden insight into the true nature…..and they realized that they were in the presence of God.
Now, the wise one’s were Gentiles, but they were on the lookout for God, searching for God in Scripture, listening for God in the words of the prophets, and watching for signs of God’s revelation on earth. And through Christ, they were able to become God’s people as well. In doing so, becoming God’s people, uncovered something that was there all along, but was hiding. It wasn’t so obvious. It took a second look. The magi realized that Jesus was their king, too — it was a life-changing epiphany.
I believe we have had some Epiphany – ministry changing moments this past year at LCR as well; a new pastoral intern, sharing $6,667.29 with Veterans Outreach of Wisconsin (which included an endowment match), our city water utility line conversation (sale of land easement & now ongoing project in the nature preserve area), our very 1st successful 5-week Neighborhood Camp summer program. Now we are working on an epiphany (guiding light forward) for our staffing plan into the future, especially since Dori announced her retirement and will be leaving us in May of 2020 and Intern John has been approved for ordination and will have the opportunity to interview with congregations sometime in April. At this point, Intern John will be staying on as a Pastoral Intern until he is called to serve as a pastor at a congregation or we determine that we will be filling our next staffing position going forward.
The council leadership and I, invite you to take time to look up and see the stars, look out for where God is leading us next, rejoice exceedingly with great joy …because we are doing amazing things in the name of Jesus.
Grace & Peace – Pastor Karen Pahl

October 2019 Holman’s Update
October 16, 2019
Thank you for your prayers! We’re halfway through our time in Nigeria, and the work is going well. The Waja team is on track to complete 1 Corinthians and the L team is making good progress with the detailed work of checking the parallel passages in Matthew with those in Mark and Luke. Angela, the young woman who came with us, is learning a lot and even making some good contributions.
I have a prayer request for the Waja team. Keeping their computers charged is a big challenge because of the lack of electricity in their area. Because of this, they have not met their goals for this first year of their three-year project. Please pray that they would find a satisfactory solution so that they can complete their work in good time.
We look forward to seeing you soon!
Blessings in Christ,
Mary
