The Waja Bible translation team in Nigeria is getting ready for checking some Old Testament portions in March. Angela, the woman I am mentoring to become a consultant, will check the portions from Isaiah and other prophetic books, and I will check the rest. Please pray that the preparation and checking would go well.

Forty years ago, Tom and I departed from Minnesota to begin work in the ministry of Bible translation. One of the goals of a missionary, including Bible translation consultants, is to “work yourself out of a job” by training and mentoring others. That’s why I’ve been mentoring Angela. Mentoring new consultants has also been taking place in countries all over the world, including Ghana and Nigeria. Starting this week, Suleiman, a Nigerian consultant-in-training, is doing the first check for accuracy of Galatians and Ephesians with the Waja team. Pray that he would help the team to dig deep into the meaning and pay attention to detail. This will help to speed the process when I do the final consultant check, and it will give Suleiman more experience in consulting.
